This page explains what Founderhop collects, why, and what we do not do.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, business email, business name, role and, if you choose to add it, your LinkedIn profile link.
- Sign-in data: one-time codes (stored only as a scrambled hash and deleted after use) and a sign-in cookie.
- Usage data: how many times you were connected with another member and on which days. Only our team can see this. It is never shown to other members and it does not include anything that was said.
- Safety data: reports you make or that are made about you, and your IP address in server logs for abuse prevention.
- Approximate location: the country your connection comes from. Our network provider, Cloudflare, works it out from your IP address and passes it to us with each request. We use it only to show it to the member you are on a call with. We do not store it, and you can see the country other members see on your own video tile.
- Chat messages: not stored. The only exception is the last few messages of a chat when a member reports it.
What we do not do
- We do not record or store video or audio from calls.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show your email address or LinkedIn link to other members. Other members only see your name, role, company and country on a call.
- We do not show your city, exact location or IP address to other members.
How video works
Video and audio travel directly between you and the other member. If a direct connection is not possible, they pass through a relay (TURN) server that only forwards the data and does not store it. Because a direct connection runs between the two browsers, the other member's browser can technically see your network address (IP address) during the call. This is how video calls in a browser work. Founderhop does not display it.
Why we use your data
- To check that members are real business owners and to run the service.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, banning abusers, preventing spam.
- To email you one-time sign-in codes.
- To understand how Founderhop is used and to spot unusual activity.
Who helps us run Founderhop
We use service providers for hosting, the database, sending email, network protection (Cloudflare) and the video relay. They process data only to provide those services to us.
How long we keep data
Account details are kept while your account is active. Reports are kept as long as needed to keep the community safe. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data by writing to [email protected]. Sign out any time from the lobby.
